India’s focus on a strengthened and multi-faceted relationship with ASEAN is an outcome of the significant changes in the world’s political and economic scenario since the early 1990s and India’s own march towards economic liberalization. India’s search for economic space resulted in the ‘Look East Policy’.
India and ASEAN are observing 25 years of their Dialogue Partnership, 15 years of Summit Level interaction and 5 years of Strategic Partnership in 2017. The theme of the silver anniversary celebrations of the ASEAN-India Dialogue Partnership, “Shared Values, Common Destiny”, builds upon the civilization and cultural ties that have bound India and ASEAN countries for more than thousand years. A Credit Line of US $ 1 BILLION on ‘DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY’ is also available for ASEAN.
India has emerged as one of the prominent trade partners for ASEAN and both the regions have shown complementarities for business to expand and grow. IT and Telecom form the backbone for the growth of any country and Indonesia has been one of the fastest growing markets worldwide in ICT adoption and communication technology.
India – ASEAN ICT Expo 2017 will be a platform for convergence of technology and business exchange. India has proven its capabilities in the ICT Sector and is acknowledged as a preferred destination for telecom products & services and telecom technology transfer of products designed through R&D for requirements of developing world. Given the large domestic demand for telecom equipment in India, the companies through innovation and R&D are creating world class products for India as well as for other emerging markets.H.E. Mr. Manoj Sinha, Minister Communication, Government of India is travelling to Indonesia and is leading the Indian ICT industry delegation. All 10 ASEAN ICT Ministers also have been invited by Indian Government. Ms. Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecommunication, Government of India will also be available.
This event will be helpful not only in encasing the credit line opportunity announced by Government but will also help companies to establish strong business base at these emerging markets of the world.
Indonesia is a potential market for Indian Telecom products and has a good demand for India telecom projects.
